Repairing Broken Friendships after The Trump Disaster-I mean Election

Friendships Surviving a Trump Presidency?

This past election got me deleted on Facebook by some and in a personal disagreement with one of my very best friends. She is a Trump supporter, I am a NEVER Trump supporter.

To me he encompasses everything that America lacks. Yet, desperately needs. He lacks empathy; the most important emotion we have in my opinion and our President does not show it. He treats those whom he proceeds “below” him with distain. My sons are Hispanic, the middle class is disappearing because GREAT businessman like Trump himself have aided in them going under so that the big wigs can take over. He exploits the rest of America by legally evading taxation. He is part of the elite who keep the rich, rich; the poor, poor; and the middle class struggling to keep their heads above water. He is part of a group that doesn’t want the minimum wage to go up and has used foreign manufactures for his own brand, exploiting foreign workers for larger profit margins. I detest his tactics in business and with his hate speech, I detest his view of the world.

My friend isn’t a bad person, she isn’t racists or hateful. She loves my children like her own and is genuinely on of the hardest working and kind individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Now that the election is over Hillary and Bernie are not relevant. However, my friend did express a fondness for Bernie, but when he lost that sealed her ballot for Trump. She like so many others are sick of a system that doesn’t work for them. They wanted someone who didn’t play by the rules at any cost. They wanted their taxes to go down and like the media and Trump have been telling them they scapegoated the poor. Told them repeatedly that these welfare leaches were taking up their tax dollars.

Do you see how our perception is different? She didn’t vote FOR racism, I voted AGAINST racism. She didn’t vote AGAINST the lower class, I voted FOR the lower class. We weren’t even on the same field of play. That is what so many do not understand. I showed my friend intolerance and basically called her a racist, she than sent me an emotional text that completely changed my view of her view. She wasn’t voting for Trump for the same reasons I wasn’t voting for him. So many people missed that and let friendships die over this election.

I cannot speak for her current view on Trumps Presidency. I stick to my view that hatred shall not be tolerated, knowing that my Trump supporting friend would stand up for those less fortunate at every opportunity. Knowing that she would never allow hate in her home or her presence, she would speak up immediately to protect my children or any other minority child or otherwise. Like the saying goes she would “give you the shirt of her back.”

We almost let a political election tear us apart. I almost lost someone I love and think of as family but somehow, we both, in the heat of it all, found empathy for each other’s views. We were not looking at the election through the same lenses.

Want better Mental Health-Try Sleeping

Importance of sleep to mental health

Sleep is one of the most vital things in life. How many people actually know the benefits of a good amount and quality of sleep? Most people just get back from work and go to bed immediately, feeling refreshed the next morning. Although, some still wake up feeling sloppy or irritated. Sleep is part of our daily lives and also very essential to our health. It’s not just about sleeping but getting the right amount and quality of sleep.

Today we will be focusing on the benefits of sleep to our mental health and a list of natural healthy ways to get better sleep – giving you a full package. Alright, let’s go!

Before I tell you the benefits of sleep to your mental health, you should first know that sleep has different stages. A good quality sleep is having spent adequate amount of time in each level of sleep. There are basically 5 stages of sleep which could be divided into two namely, non-REM and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. A sleep cycle can last up to 120mins, so a person can have an average of 4 to 5 sleep cycles a night. Each stage lasting from 5-15mins.

  • Stage 1

You experience eye and muscle relaxation. You drift in and out of sleep frequently. In this stage you can be awakened easily.

  • Stage 2

Your body is relaxed. Your heart rate and brain waves slows, eye movement stops, and body temperature decreases as you transcend into deep sleep.

  • Stage 3

Also called deep sleep. Your brain releases Delta waves (very slow brain waves). In this transition, sleep walking, sleep talking and bed wetting occur.

  • Stage 4

This is just the continuation of deep sleep. There’s a more exclusive production of Delta waves.

  • Stage 5

Also called REM sleep. At this stage, brain waves imitate activity related to an awakened state. Although the eyes are closed, it moves rapidly from side to side.

For you to have a good quality sleep, you must have passed through all cycles and spent adequate time in each. Good, now that you know that let’s go see the benefits of sleep.

Benefits of sleep to mental health

  • It makes you learn faster

It helps in all stages of life, from children to adults. When you try a task maybe for some time and you have a good night sleep and try it again, there’ll be improvement. It’s been found that sleep deprivation reduces learning ability. Even in school, schools that resume at later hours of 8:30am recorded improvement in test scores by 3% in math and reading, improved attendance, and reduces the rate of depression cases.

  • Gives you a better mood with less chances of depression and anxiety

Sleep is highly related to mood, depression and anxiety. Sleep loss has a strong negative effect on mood. People who don’t get enough sleep wake up feeling sluggish, weak and sometimes slurred speech may occur. People who have insufficient sleep have more symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  • It makes you happy

A good night sleep leaves you feeling refreshed and energized, giving you a feeling of happiness.

  • Prevents slurred speech

Long deprivation of sleep can affect your speech, how? It can cause slurred speech, repeating of words, and a slow, recurrent tone.

  • Prevents headache and migraine

People who don’t sleep well are prone to experience migraine. Even poor sleep is related to episodic migraine and about 36% – 58% of people who suffer from sleep apnea wake up with headache.

  • Helps you feel less upset and irritated

When you lack sufficient sleep there’s tendency for you to get easily irritated at small interruption. Sleep deprivation can intensify negative emotions.

  • It makes you focus better

Insufficient sleep makes it harder for you to concentrate, creating chances for easy distraction which can be fatal to your work or personal life. Getting sufficient sleep helps you stay focused.

Also, people on medication who maintain a good quality of sleep, hydration and nutrition are less likely to experience many side effects.

Haven’t been getting enough sleep? Don’t worry, I have natural remedies for you.

Natural ways to improve sleep

  • Set a routine sleep pattern

Going to bed and waking up at the same time helps you sleep well because your body adapts to the sleep pattern.

  • Cross-check your medication

Some drugs contain substances that could affect sleep. Know what you’re putting into your system. Drugs like beta-blockers, SSRIs (like Prozac and Zoloft) are likely to cause insomnia.

  • Quit smoking

Smoking affects sleep because cigarettes contains a stimulant known as nicotine which prevents sleep. Smokers are also related to sleep apnea and respiratory issues which contribute to poor sleep.

  • Stop coffee intake after 2pm

You can’t keep taking coffee which contains caffeine, a stimulant after 2pm in the afternoon and expect a good night sleep. You might end up not reaching deep sleep or probably not sleeping at all due to the fact that it lasts 8 hours after consumption.

  • Exercise/workout often

To attain sleepiness, the body has to relax and cool down. Engaging in aerobic workout like cardio, improve the quality of your sleep.

  • Take deep breaths

Taking deep breaths helps lower your heart rate and blood pressure, thereby relaxing your body and preparing it for sleep.

  • Ensure proper ventilation

Our body loses the ability to regulate temperature during REM sleep and cooling is very vital in sleep. For people who suffer hot flashes, especially women in menopause, proper ventilation is advised.

  • Avoid alcohol before bedtime

Your body takes an hour to metabolize just one drink of alcohol. Note that after consuming alcohol, the level of alcohol in your body starts to drop, signaling your body to wake up. So it’s best to avoid it at least 2 hours before bedtime.

  • Remove light emitting gadgets too close to you

Gadgets like phones and laptops can emit light into eyes which tells your brain to stay awake. Avoid keeping them too close to you when sleeping.

  • Pillow position

Sounds funny but pillow position matters because you have to keep your neck and spine straight when sleeping to avoid tension and aches.

With everything being said, you now know the importance of sleep to your mental health. I you’ve been having poor sleep, try out those remedies listed above and beyond consistent.

Sleep is very important, start getting sufficient sleep from today.

Creative ways to save a marriage

Why do you think that some ups and downs of your relationship mean that you are done with it? Currently you are not in the best phase of relationship but did you forget the most beautiful feelings that you enjoyed when you were with him? Please stop and have a look on the positive sides. No one is perfect but you have to ignore the shortcomings of the person you love the most. Divorce or breakup is not the solution. Even Adam and Eve had an argument in heaven. You are not better than them.

Believe me everyone goes through this phase at some point of relationships. Do you think money can make your love stronger? Then why is there a great ratio of divorces between superstars of film industry? You would have seen many couple even your parents that they argue sometime but at the end they are always love each other because they know that it’s only you that can make this relationship going. Money or your fame can not buy Love. It’s a gift from God. And you should be happy to have such loving Partner.

If your marriage is more in ruins than the Coliseum itself, think wisely, breathe deeply and take the commitment to embark on a true mission of rescue of your loved one. We supposed you are feeling hurt and you fear to wear your heart on your sleeve again, It’s not that easy, but to achieve it, it is only necessary way to make the decision with courage, no matter how wounded we are.

Sometimes you should let your heart rule your head to see clearly in love.

If we have a stormy relationship and we are willing to recover it, we must first ask ourselves certain questions:

How much do we know about love? Do I really know how to love? Do I really know in what stage my relationship is?  If you are obvious of what love truly means, let me sketch some stages from which all marriages go through.

Any relationship can be divided into the following stages:

  1. The lovey-dovey stage: You like each other, and the flame of love begins to surface.
  2. The head over heels phase: you feel like on a honeymoon and everything is perfect, there is love everywhere and you even build your own love-nest.
  3. Blazing rows phase: Chaos or disillusionment begins; suddenly your couple has turned into someone you didn’t know.
  4. Get together or break up phase: In this stage, you decide whether you want to continue on this journey in spite of going through a bit of a rough path or if you decide to end up on good terms.
  5. Dead marriage or not together for years: Suddenly after few years, you start to feel about your partner and want him back but thought it is late. But let me clear you something that it’s never too late for you to get your partner back.

No more Marriages on the rocks!

If you identify yourself in phase 3, 4 and 5 then the following tips will help your marriage out of the dark. It does not matter if you are woman or man; we are all human beings in search of authentic love. We all want to be the love of someone’s life but how to continue giving love without the initial emotions?

Marriage is a matter of two, doing things that nurture you and make you stay together more and more is the solution. Your partner should also show a bit of will, but unfortunately, you cannot do it all alone, as Walter Riso says” when there is love is shown, but when there is not, it is even more noticeable because the indifference never goes unnoticed.” Take care of your heart and anticipate another disappointment!

A mature person loves by choice and by circumstances, if you are sure of your love begins with the first step: Show that you love him/her.

Make your partner your # 1 priority

Loving leads us to forgive, to yield, to heal and to continue. Being sincere with your feelings will show that willingness that is absent when we discuss with our partner. But what’s the fun part?

You must show your love creatively, this is the time to hire an orchestra, buy a float of roses or plan a dream getaway. You need it too, take your suitcase, your bathing suit or your winter jacket and take your spouse to a place where only you have each other, where there are no excuses to speak, to look at each other and to love and be loved. This is like going back to your first wedding night.

Forgive to be forgiven

The second step is to show our willingness to improve our mistakes: we know that we are not perfect and that our partner has chosen us for life, taking into account our shortcomings and virtues, but sometimes we fail and to encourage forgiveness and the desire to improve in the other person we need to take that first step.

Have a sincere conversation about those mistakes you have made and about those things you do every day that probably makes your partner go mad, and promise to improve them until there is nothing on the list. Listening attentively is important because sometimes we do things wrong and we don’t even realize it.

Be a loved-up couple.

The third step is to start building the relationship you want for life. The time to make the change is now and the way is radical. Dream with your partner, fly over the clouds thinking about all the good things you want to do together and start doing them. Make yourself feel appreciated, loved and valued as if there were no other man or woman for you in this world. Focus the reasons why you almost end up as a couple was the discussions, control or jealousy? Eliminate all those aspects of your marital life.

Making your partner feel that you are willing to treat him or her, as she/he deserves, will eliminate any thought of seeking someone else, hence the likelihood of infidelity will be very low.

Undress your soul

The fourth step has to do with intimacy. This is one of the aspects by which couples end up more. Skin-to-skin contact is as necessary as a soul-to-soul contact. Couples who argue are usually so affected that they do not want to get close to each other. But the time has come to give vent to the lust and feed the passions.

Finally, become an intimate husband or wife with your partner, if there were details of her/his personality or work that you had not noticed before, start detailing them showing support and dedication every day.

Do not give up if you had a dead marriage. Just remember! Love brings up emotions that run the gamut from agony to ecstasy. Love can inspire us to accomplish some of the craziest and most amazing dreams.

A look inside the commitment of a martial artist

Most people know what martial arts is due to famous movie stars who brought it to spot light, like the legendary Bruce Lee. But still, most don’t. You think everything you see in the movies apply to martial arts in reality. Well, I disagree and I’ll tell you why as we progress. For those who don’t know what martial art is, let me tell you.

What is martial art? Martial arts is a broad field, not just a fighting technique as most think. It comprises of fighting techniques, physical exercises and mental discipline, among other skills. Originating from ancient culture in Asia, though some other martial arts originated from other places. They are used today around the world for self defense, exercise, health, spiritual growth and athletic competition.

Now that you know what martial arts means, I want to tell you about all it entails in matters of commitment.

Most people who want to learn martial arts expect to see Kungfu skills on their first day. It’s not that way. A babe doesn’t become a man in a day. Patience is the first lesson and key to become a good martial artist. If it was so easy to learn the art people wouldn’t spend 4 years trying to get a black belt. You have to be patient to learn everything. There will be pain, reshaping, injuries, you will even be beaten once in a while. But all these are part of our gradual grooming. So if you’re not patient, then don’t bother.

Pain and endurance

Now, this is the part people tend to run away from. I agree that no one loves pain but you can’t see gold in it’s true beauty except it’s passed through fire. You must accept the fact that you have to be broken, transformed, remodeled. To attain a good level of flexibility and durability during a fight you have to pass through extensive and core training. In a fight, you might take a few punches. Your level of endurance determines how much you can take and how long you’ll last. So you see, it’s for your benefit. In a fight, your opponent doesn’t care if you’re hurt, he actually wants to inflict more damage. So, you have to be well guarded.

Another important quality you need in martial arts is perseverance. It’s not for quitters. You have to keep training no matter what. Even though you fail or miss a step, you just have to keep moving. We in martial arts put away any discouragement or opposition, because considering these won’t get you anywhere.

Training and constant practice

Without these two you can’t be a martial artist. Constant training is required on a daily basis. All these help improve your fighting qualities such as stance, stamina, endurance and speed. Constant training and practice is essential to achieve maximum efficiency. We engage in training until it becomes part of us, a habit and lifestyle.

Many martial artists focus on just aggression and speed. They leave behind a very essential factor which is composure. Whatever challenge you encounter, your composure matters. You don’t want to show your opponent you’re scared or tired. In fact, a well composed person hides his/her weak points well. If you are not composed and relaxed, you give your opponent information he can use against you. It’s not all about speed and aggression, extreme cases might not require much of those.

Lastly, a good martial artist must learn to accept correction. Your mistakes in a fight shouldn’t depress you. Instead, it should give you time to correct it, change your style and move on. Nobody’s perfect, we learn everyday. See your loss as a chance to improve your skills. This makes you a better martial artist.

So, if you think it’s easy what we do, it’s not. Why we are able to impress you in competitions or movies is because we’ve gone through all these process of brewing, to give the fine quality you admire and love to watch. It’s our commitment.

Martial arts isn’t just fighting. It’s a lifestyle.

Roller Derby-You Go To Practice

You go to practice. You go to practice and wobble out onto the track. You wobble out onto the track wearing skates that are a size too big for you, a fact you won’t know until two years later when you buy new ones. You go to practice. You go to practice even though you can’t do T-stops, even though you can only skate 27 laps in five minutes, even though you have no idea what people mean when they talk about “getting a goat.” You go to practice even though you have no friends there. You shop for knee socks and go to practice.

You go to practice on a former ice-skating rink with an uneven floor in a dilapidated park district building. You go to practice in an abandoned store in a shopping mall. You go to practice in a skating rink with rain coming through the roof, with overflowing toilets, with fountains spewing toxic-tasting water and a cotton candy machine that produces a sickening smell on the weekends. You go to practice and do pace lines and pack drills and hitting exercises. You go to practice and work on endurance and communication, and you try to master the basic skills. You go to practice and wonder if you’re getting sick or are just out of shape. Still. You go to practice and pass your 27 in 5.

You go to practice and fall on your tailbone while scrimmaging. You go to practice and fall, shaving the skin off where your thigh connects to the floor. You go to practice and shave the skin off in the exact same spot on the other thigh. You go practice because for some reason you feel like you should go to practice, even though you mostly suck and are afraid you will have to jam. You are not sure you even like this roller derby thing. You go to practice and picture yourself coming out of practice on a stretcher. You wonder who on your league can drive stick shift to get your car home.

You go to practice at a hockey rink off a terribly trafficked highway exit with a delicious floor and air conditioning. You know your skates suck now but you keep going to practice. More things are starting to make sense. You go to practice and see someone break an ankle, the first of several ankle breaks you will witness over the coming years. The ambulance drives off and you keep practicing.

One day you go to practice and get a concussion. You miss a few practices, which helps you realize you might enjoy practice more than you thought you did. That it might be something sort of essential about your life now. You go to practice and start to feel a little more comfortable when someone hands you the jammer panty. At least it doesn’t fill you with dread. It might even be fun sometimes.

You finally get new skates and they hurt so much you want to cry at practice. You get cramps so bad you have to stop skating and physically bend your feet out of a claw position. Maybe you do cry. You wonder if you will ever be even sort of good at derby again. You go to practice. You bout. You go to practice. You bout. You go to meetings. You go to practice.

During your third year, your league gives you an award at the end-of-season party, which shocks and humbles you. You put the award in a frame and go to practice. The days in which you imagine leaving practice on a stretcher have become few and far between.

You go to practice because your friends will be there. You go because you never know if something might click that time. You might do something good. You go because there might be beers afterward. You go because it speeds the workweek along to the weekend. You go to practice to prepare for a bout. You go after a bout, too, to work on the deficiencies that made you lose or maybe to try to capture those things that helped you win, to grab onto them before they slip away. You are dog-tired, but you go to practice.

When your boyfriend dumps you, you go to practice. You go to practice even though you might cry at practice. Then you go to practice because it’s the only place you don’t cry. It seems possible that you can sweat out the bad thing inside you. You skate like the world is ending.

You go to practice even when you don’t want to go to practice. Derby has taken over your life and you wonder if there will ever be a time where you don’t have to go to practice. And sometimes you don’t go. Sometimes you want to stop the feeling of being caught in an endless roundelay of practice, practice, practice. So you just tell yourself: fuck it. You work late. You go to the bar. You lay around your apartment in your underwear, reading magazines and watching serial dramas on your laptop. You go back to practice.

You go to practice because there’s no one waiting for you at home. Or maybe you go to practice because someone is waiting for you at home. You go to practice because what the hell did you do with all your free time before you went to practice? You go to practice because you feel like hitting someone. You go to practice because you feel like being hit. No one asked you to do anything else so you go. Someone asked you do something you’d rather do, but still you go to practice. You go to practice because you’re hungry to practice. You go to practice because you’re never going to be any younger than you are right now. Because your body isn’t broken yet or because it isn’t broken anymore. You go because it’s hard to imagine life before there was going to practice. You go to practice because you want to feel like you’re flying. Over and over again.

You go to practice, you go to practice. Because that’s what you do.

Importance of Manners

Have good manners become outdated? Do you find yourself astonished when you see someone using appropriate etiquette and good manners? Even though we would favor our society to return to a time when our kids were educated to be polite and treat others with regard, it does make a great chance for those of us who trust and embrace this practice.

Do you ever wonder why good manners are so significant? In spite of many effects of mannerism, if you, while you are youthful, can come to understand the power of performing good manners and treating others in polite ways, you can gain an important social benefit over many of your colleagues and friends.

Without appropriate etiquette, society would be chaos with free-for-all behaviors that would have ill-mannered people dominating those who care about others. People would express whatever was on their minds, notwithstanding of how tactless it is. Forks would fly, and elbows would shake tables in cafés and homes. People who speak with their mouths full of food would gross us out.

Most people recall having to listen to etiquette rules over and over during their childhood before separation from the house. Whether they were going shopping at the local store or to some friends’ house for banquet, parents repeated a long list of what was anticipated.

At the time, it may have seemed outmoded. But once they become grown-ups and start having their own kids, they appreciate because they now do it. As grown-ups, most of us still care about having a social existence. Ignoring appropriate etiquette guidelines can timeout us off the guest list and have people turning the other way when they meet us on the way.

There are certain anticipations of how an executive is supposed to behave. If you follow the guidelines, you’re observed as someone who knows what you’re speaking about. Conversely, if you don’t, you may be laughed at and perhaps even disregarded.

Having proper etiquette is vital in all phases of life if you want others to regard you.

Being nice at home sets the example for improved behavior. Your kids watch how you respond to various situations, so parents need to set models and have good manners. If you are good mannered to them and stable in following proper manners guidelines, they are much more probable to do the same.

Professional manners get encouraging attention. Skills on the job are vital, but knowing how to do the work isn’t the only thing anticipated from you. Following the etiquette guidelines at work will help you receive respect and perhaps even contribute to advancements and raises.

Being kind to clients increases sales. Show your clients your good manners by talking to them politely and providing them an opportunity to specify their requirements, and you are more prone to earn their future business.

Being polite to your acquaintances will keep them calling. When you peers know you are thoughtful enough to have respectable manners with them, they are more probable to embrace you in activities and events.

Romantic relationships are deeper when couples regard each other. Men and women who are good mannered and noble are a lot more enjoyable to be around than those who are self-centered and impolite.

Treating other individuals with respect makes them desire to be lovely back to you. Whether you need help at the grocery store or you have a objection about an item, presenting good manners will make the store workers want to work with you. Holding a door for a young person or older lady can make their day much more enjoyable. Smile at somebody, and that just could be the positive spot in his or her day.

It is impossible to exaggerate the significance of having and applying good manners.  Saying “please” and “thank you” is simply the beginning, but a very decent one.  They are accurately magic words.  If you have not been using them unfailingly, just attempt to start. I can promise you that you will gain an abundance of regard from people of all eras. And by following the power of these foundations now, you will learn to value the power of having good manners during your life.

Again, believe it or not, everyone in your surroundings will appreciate your behavior. People would enjoy working and simply interacting with those who are well mannered rather than those who are not.

And this also refers to other cultures and communities. It starts with understanding and embracing the differences.

Thirty years ago, good manners and humble attitudes were the standard. Children were, more or less, polite to their seniors, and what was considered a rebellion would be though fairly insignificant by today’s norms.

For anybody who has had to wait for service while a seller finished surfing the net on a smartphone, it will not be surprising.

The latest phones and other devices may be assisting a new generation to stay securer and better connected… but it’s making them impolite. That’s brought us to a condition today where the absence of respect that many children show their parents, their teachers and one another is shocking and often troubling.

Contemporary phones; laptops, IPods and social media such as Facebook and YouTube have worn-out manners. There wants to be a serious sweat on the part of all parents to transform this so kids learn to have regard for one another, for authority and for other people’s stuff. These things are vital to the healthy performance of not only a family, but also a society. Simple things like saying “please” and “thank you” may seem insignificant, but they disclose the outlooks of the heart.  It is so essential for parents to correct young children when they act impolitely.

The Lost Art of Breastfeeding

In our world today, things have evolved and changed to meet the rising demand and challenges. These changes occurred so rapidly, we had no time to stop and think, of both its benefits and dangers. Man has become self-centred and the bonds of humanity have gradually been eroded.

Breastfeeding is a valuable art threatened to be lost in the sands of time. It is a beautiful thing! In earlier times before the advent of urbanisation, women throughout history gave suckle to their children except on medical or health grounds. It brings joy to a mother to nourish a life and to see it radiate and grow bright and strong. This helped to keep these children alive and those who couldn’t be breastfed and a wet nurse wasn’t available, had a higher tendency to die young from illness or malnutrition. The use of bovine milk in feeding human children was also brought up; bovine milk is suited for cows while human milk, for humans.

Now, studies show that women who have discarded this art, have placed their kids on a higher pedestal of being obese, leaving them predisposed to diabetes, hypertension etc. It’s being advocated for, that women go back to breastfeeding their children instead of placing them on baby formula. You might ask why?

  • According to studies, the first milk produced by a mother contains antibodies to help a child fight infections and diseases. It acts a child’s first vaccination. If this is to be manufactured, an ounce would go for $80!

Women in the earlier times engaged in breastfeeding and this helped their children survive even when hygiene and all was poor. Now imagine what a combination of hygiene, immunizations and breast milk would do for your kids!

  • Studies have shown that children who have been formula fed have a high tendency to be obese and later develop diabetes. Obesity is one of the top ranking concerns in our today’s society.

Looking at the children in earlier centuries who were breastfed, they grew up strong, active and healthy. They weren’t obese! But as economic and scientific growth came, breastfeeding was gradually abandoned for baby formula and the obesity percentage steadily climbed up to where we are today.

  • It has also been shown that breastfeeding helps a mother bond and love her child. It’s no magic! A breastfeeding mother can sing to her child offering relief and ease. She can study minute details of that child!

She gets to look into her baby’s eyes which they say are the windows to the soul and through this a lifelong bond can be formed.

It can also be generally seen that a child runs to his mother before any other person.

(This can also be achieved through bottle feeding but the totality of benefits outweighs it.)

There are so many other things we can learn from earlier times.  In truth and in deed, We have grown but we can still learn a thing or two from the past!

Tears of Syrians

            Syrian refugees and war

The Syrian refugee crisis remains one of the major humanitarian crisis in the world till date. It is one of the most brutal conflict in this century .It is due to the civil war between government, rebel group and foreign backers.According to the UN report there are more than 5 million refugees from Syria and nearly half of them are children. The conflict faced by the Syrian refugees are more when compared to the Second World War.Its high time for human race to help refugees to lead a stable life.

Problems faced by the Syrian refugees:

  • High rate of homeles
  • They don’t have proper food to eat.
  • Lack of good clothing.
  • They don’t have proper sanitation.
  • The are used as sex slaves and physical abuse is higher.
  • Some of them get seperated from their families.
  • Newly born children and pregnant women are prone to malnutrition and abuse.
  • Child labour gets increased .
  • Lack of proper educational system.

These are some of the problems faced by the refugee’s, beyond this, so many direct and indirect problems are present.

Countries adopting refugee’s:

Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt are the countries which are adopting refugees. Some of the countries don’t adopt refugees. Such countries experiencing such crisis should be given as much help as possible, especially in terms of relief goods.

How can we help them?

  1. Providing Basic Requirements:

As said earlier, relief goods should be made available for refugees in such condition. These people suffer and die from malnutrition due to poor feeding and low farming activity. Safe supply of drinking water should be made available to avoid cholera.

  1. Provision of proper housing

Government’s of the adopting countries should provide housing facilities. People can also donate housing equipment. At least temporary housing should be made. Nowadays it is possible to make shelter in cheap cost by using plastic fibers.

  1. Create awareness of dangers of war

Movies have more attraction. So anyone voluntarily take short films on Syrian crisis .The short film should be catchy .Share this film in social networking sites to create awareness of such situation and condemn war or conflict.

  1. Start a camp:

Volunteers can start a camp and collect money in tourist centers, churches, malls, shopping complex, theatre and other public places. This can also be a means of letting people to know about the crisis. High school and college students can do this work easily and the respective institutions should also support this.

  1. Temporary employment:

People in the adopting countries should provide temporary employment opportunities to the refugees. The should be given considerable salary so as to enhance the standard of living.

  1. Adopt a child :

There are a so many child which lost their parents during war time or during migration. Human organizations should voluntarily come and make a record of children who lost their parents. They should inform it in media. If any parent hears the news they can easily get their children .

Temporary education classes should be taken to all on ” How to survive during war times”? They should explain that there is a life after these incidents. Scholarship should also be awarded to outstanding students, so as to encourage and motivate them.

  1. Medical rehabilitation

Medical rehabilitation program should be done for people facing psychological issues and trauma due to influence of war. Especially women and children exposed to physical and emotional abuse. This could reduce suicide rate.

Wat and conflict has brought more bad than good. Avoiding such is best.

Let all nations be united by the bond of love and not by the bondages of war .

Life-Changing Effects of Cryo-therapy

Cryo-therapy is a relatively newer form of personal training which is gradually making its name in the world of physical health and fitness training. There always exists a room for advancements in the ever-evolving world of health & fitness and therapies like cryo-therapy are certainly enhancing the rate of these advancements. Cryo-therapy has been the center of several different studies and most if not all produced alarming results which are supposedly beneficial for the clients and patients.

The procedure is mildly amusing and could probably be considered as somewhat shocking in the beginning. Cryotherapy is basically nothing but a cold therapy where the body is induced to cold temperatures up to -264 degrees Fahrenheit. The deep-freezer like chambers drops the body temperature to around 30 – 50 degrees in a matter of two to three minutes. The sudden drop transitions the body into the survival mood as a result of which the blood flow increases to its maximum. The controlled environment ensures the greatest efficiency of the therapy and ensures no harm of any sort is done to the client’s health. The cold temperature also produces a burst of endorphins which assist in lifting up the mood and energy to much higher levels resulting in enhancing overall productivity.

At first read, a cold therapy for reduction of pain and enhancement of health doesn’t sound a lot appealing but experiencing it once changes the perceptions of client completely from negative to positive. There sure are no doubts that cryotherapy holds countless short-term health and fitness benefits and it is scientifically proven that cryotherapy is certainly one of the most productive means of pain reduction and muscle relaxation. It surely does also change the mood of the client for better and certainly makes him more positive and energetic for a short span of time. The real question is does these beneficial effects of cryotherapy prolongs for a greater length of time or do they fade away with the span of time?

Well, in order to answer these questions experimentally one needs to adopt and evaluate this relatively newer form of therapy for a greater span of time. But until it is experimentally verified all we have is mathematical data accumulated through studies and researches of the past on the basis of which we can propose hypothesis and assumptions for the future. It is certain that on practicing the therapy regularly for the greater length of time its positive effects would continue too. In order to provide a better understanding of the life-changing effects of cryotherapy, let’s consider the benefits of cryotherapy first.

  • Reduction of Inflammation:

Cryotherapy was proposed initially for this sole purpose as it was believed that exposure to extremely cold temperature would lead to a reduction of inflammation. To date, cryotherapy greatest use is still for treating inflammation caused by injuries, wounds, or gashes. Cryotherapy treats inflammations at different areas all at once and helps greatly for the sudden lessening of pain. The given treatment ensures that the problem or wound in focus is treated completely for the greatest length of time as the cryotherapy only speeds up the rate of the natural healing process.

  • Performance Enhancement:

Quite a few athletes are beginning to adopt to this newer method of personal health and fitness training because of its certain beneficial results. The production of endorphins ensures greater performance levels because of enhancement of muscle and internal strength. The given effect of cryotherapy in focus is merely temporary but the goals acquired because of it are certain to last forever.

  • Chronic Pain & Fatigue Reduction:

Cryotherapy is gradually becoming the optimum solution for treating problems related to chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or general body pain. The period of relief varies with the person and the issue in focus and in some cases it lasts for a greater span of time.

In addition to these, cryotherapy has countless more benefits too which include the likes of metabolism increase, happiness, and collagen boost. Despite some of the benefits last for a given span of time, its positive effects are certain to last a lifetime. Cryotherapy is just another form of personal health and fitness training and despite being greatly beneficial it is certainly no magic. These effects of cryotherapy could last for longer and probably lifetime if the sessions are done regularity in a proper scheduled manner.

  1. Temporary employment:

People in the adopting countries should provide temporary employment opportunities to the refugees. The should be given affordable salary .Mainly they should not be ill treated they are also humans.

“Mom am I a Mexican?”

I’ll never forget the moment my nine-year-old son uttered those words. I had just picked he and his brothers up from school. My response, “No, you are an American.”

He is. He was born and raised in the United States as were his birth parents. He may have two white parents and to white full siblings but he has a dark complexion with black hair and the most gorgeous eyes and lashes to ever grace a human being. Where was this question coming from?

“My friends told me that now that Trump is President I have to leave America because I am a Mexican.” Utter heartbreak was my first reaction. Then anger, how could someone treat my baby boy like this because of the color of his skin!? It wasn’t based on ethnicity my sons are brothers but two are dark and two are not; guess which two were getting bullied? I think that proves the theory it was the color of their skin being displayed on the table of judgement.

How do we stop this cycle of racism and prejudice? Our kids. I simply told my child that he was an American and that his friends must not understand that. (Apparently neither do their parents or authority figures, but I digress.) That we are all made up of different races and that is what makes America what it is. I explained what ignorance is as a lack of awareness. I also explained that willful ignorance is dangerous and should not be tolerated. That he should be proud of his heritage and spread awareness to his friends about the dangers of “rounding” people up based on color or religion.

Show our kids a different view of the world, change the world. We are a multi-racial family, so we get to view the world a little differently than most. Our home is perceived as a melting pot, but what so many do not realize is that ALL our homes are melting pots. My husband is part German and I am part Irish, just because we are the same color doesn’t mean we are of the same race.

Stopping racism and bullying in schools, starts at home.

Taming your Stress-Fueled Emotional Limbic System

If you struggle with high anxiety that impacts your life, there are ways to naturally suppress that anxiety that doesn’t require workouts or diet changes but rather a simple redirection of thought.  And if your anything like me your rolling your eyes thinking yea right, if I can redirect it with just my little own brain I would have done it.  Well calm your brain and pop a Xanax and pay attention.  The brain is the culprit of intensifying each moment with a ton of “What if” scenarios that will most likely never happen and once we address it at the source it can slow down and naturally chill out.  So, before you light that joint or pop a xanny lets try something else.

Suppressing your anxiety is not a healthy way to deal with stress.  The better approach is to describe it.  Are you overwhelmed, tired, pressured, overworked, underpaid, angry?  Labeling your state of mind allows you to redirect your thought process and thereby your actions by simulating your prefrontal cortex of your brain.  The prefrontal cortex of brain is the more rational and analytical part.  So, if Spock would live in your brain…this is where he lives.  By using your frontal cortex of your brain, you naturally chill out your anger, and anxiety fueled thought process and in turn one will make less irrational decisions.

The more you practice it the easier it will be.  The body will soon naturally respond this way thus allowing you to get ahead of the crazy train and redirect your anxiety or stress into a more productive state.

Benefits of Water

Consider water a supplement your body needs that is available in fluids, plain water, and nourishments. These are fundamental day by day to supplant a lot of water lost every day,” says Joan Koelemay, RD, dietitian for the Refreshment Foundation, an industry gathering.

Kaiser Permanente nephrologist Steven Visitor, MD, concurs: “Liquid misfortunes happen ceaselessly, from skin dissipation, breathing, pee, and stool, and these misfortunes must be substituted day by day for good wellbeing,” he says.

At the point when your water consumption does not equivalent your yield, you can wind up plainly got dried out. Liquid misfortunes are emphasized in hotter atmospheres, amid strenuous exercise, in high heights, and in more seasoned grown-ups, whose feeling of thirst may not be as sharp.

Here are six motivations to ensure you’re drinking enough water or different liquids consistently:

  1. Drinking Water Keeps up the Adjust of Body Liquids. Your body is made out of around 60% water. The elements of these organic liquids incorporate processing, retention, dissemination, making of salivation, transportation of supplements, and support of body temperature.

“Through the back-pituitary organ, your cerebrum speaks with your kidneys and discloses to it how much water to discharge as pee or clutch for saves,” says Visitor, who is additionally an assistant educator of pharmaceutical at Stanford College.

When you’re low on liquids, the cerebrum triggers the body’s thirst instrument. What’s more, unless you are taking solutions that make you parched, Visitor says, you should tune in to those prompts and get yourself a drink of water, juice, drain, espresso – anything besides liquor.

  1. Water Can Help Control Calories. For quite a long time, health food nuts have been drinking loads of water as a weight reduction system. While water doesn’t have any mystical impact on weight reduction, substituting it for higher calorie drinks can absolutely offer assistance.

“What works with weight reduction is whether you pick water or a non-caloric refreshment over a caloric drink as well as eat an eating regimen higher in water-rich sustenance’s that are more advantageous, all the more filling, and help you trim calorie consumption,” says Penn State scientist Barbara Moves, PhD, creator of The Volumetric Weight Control Design.

Nourishment with high water content tends to look bigger, its higher volume requires more biting, and it is consumed all the more gradually by the body, which encourages you feel full. Water-rich nourishments incorporate organic products, vegetables, stock based soups, cereal, and beans.

  1. Water Empowers Muscles. Cells that don’t keep up their adjustment of liquids and electrolytes wither, which can bring about muscle exhaustion. “At the point when muscle cells don’t have sufficient liquids, they don’t act too and execution can endure,” says Visitor.

Drinking enough liquids is imperative when working out. Take after the American School of Games Pharmaceutical rules for liquid admission earlier and amid physical action. These rules suggest that individuals drink around 17 ounces of liquid around two hours previously work out. Amid work out, they prescribe that individuals begin drinking liquids early, and drink them at normal interims to supplant liquids lost by sweating.

  1. Water Enables Keep To Skin Looking Great. Your skin contains a lot of water, and capacities as a defensive boundary to forestall abundance liquid misfortune. However, don’t anticipate that over-hydration will delete wrinkles or scarce differences, says Atlanta dermatologist Kenneth Ellner, MD.

“Drying out makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be enhanced with legitimate hydration,” he says. “In any case, once you are sufficiently hydrated, the kidneys assume control and discharge overabundance liquids.”

You can likewise help “bolt” dampness into your skin by utilizing lotion, which makes a physical boundary to keep dampness in.

  1. Water Aides Your Kidneys. Body liquids transport squander items all through cells. The fundamental poison in the body is blood urea nitrogen, a water-solvent waste that can go through the kidneys to be discharged in the pee, clarifies Visitor. “Your kidneys make an astounding showing with regards to of purifying and freeing your assemblage of poisons as long as your admission of liquids is sufficient,” he says.

When you’re getting enough liquids, pee streams unreservedly, is light in shading and free of smell. At the point when your body is not getting enough liquids, pee fixation, shading, and scent increments because the kidneys trap additional liquid for substantial capacities.

If you constantly drink close to nothing, you might be at higher hazard for kidney stones, particularly in warm atmospheres, Visitor cautions.

#6 Last but not least, let me work you through the valuable impacts of H2O on cerebrum usefulness.

Our cerebrum is around 75% water. At the point when your mind is working on a full hold of water, you will have the capacity to

1.) Think Faster

2.) Be more engaged

3.) Experience more prominent clearness and imagination.

Also, At the point when the cerebrum is completely hydrated, the trading of supplements and toxins will be more effective in this way guaranteeing better focus and mental readiness.

Would you open your doors?

Over 66 million people around the world were displaced from their home because of war, conflict or persecution. The conflict in Syria has now driven more than twelve million people to seek sanctuary in neighboring countries, making it the largest displaced crisis for a quarter of a century. Facing an uncertain future displaced persons/refugees are struggling to survive. With the violence continuing in their homeland, they wait in camps hoping that a country will offer them asylum. Four million children have been affected, all having left school and their future educations behind. Over 12,000 children have died among the 240,000 people killed in the Syria conflict, with a million people wounded and disabled. More than 75,000 Syrian refugee families live without their father, while thousands of children have separated from both parents. This separation can cause a breakdown in the family structure and impact children not only in economic ways but also emotionally. Many children have endured injuries and physical trauma, illness due to interrupted preventative health care, physiological trauma, and impediments to their spiritual development.

Now, the humanitarian effort is failing, falling donations and spiraling needs. The united nation has received less than half of the amount and resources needed to care for the displaced/refugees.  To help the greatest number of refugees, you first need to understand where the refugees are located, and you are to support the organization addressing refugees/displaced person’s needs. Meeting displaced person needs is vital, but aids worker also urges individuals, donors, to think about supporting the government in trying to solve problems that will help children and families over a longer term. An individual can take the responsibility of helping displaced person or refugees by delivering food and clean water, improving shelters and providing families with clothing, mattresses and other household essentials. We can also help children cope with extreme stress and constructive activities to nurture their healthy development. There are also different ways individuals can make a difference in the lives of a displaced persons which include:

Donation: one of the best ways to help is through donating to an accredited nonprofit organization that is responding to the crisis. Every single donation provides more food, water, shelter, and support to the displaced children and families in crisis around the world.

Fundraise: you can also provide direct assistance by setting up a page to raise money to support the displaced people or refugees, which can provide immediate assistance including access medical care, legal services and access to sanitation. Asking your friends and family to contribute to the effort of saving the lives of displaced children and families.

Learn more: the more you learn about this crisis, the more you will understand its underlying causes and can spread the word. The warfare in Syria, violence in Iraq and Afghanistan and the drought in Somalia, has contributed to the surge of refugees from those countries. Share the story and spread the word about the millions of people who need us.

Advocate: tell Congress that we must continue to support the refugees by expanding humanitarian assistance to the displaced/refugees in the country, as well as those burdened by the new migration.

Displaced persons in all countries continue to require international assistance and attention. They should have access to good food, decent education, employment opportunities, and dignified living conditions.
